Who is a mentor?
This is someone who studies at Poznań University of Technology (PUT), the University of Arts in Poznań (UAP), or the Academy of Physical Education (AWF) and simply wants to help!
The MENTOR program was created for people who want to help newly arrived Erasmus students settle into Poland from the very first moment of their stay. In line with our organization’s motto – “Students helping students” – a mentor is a patient, open-minded person who knows how to listen, and above all, someone who truly enjoys helping others.
What is the role of a mentor?
Taking care of a foreign student is not just about responsibilities, but above all, great fun and an incredible experience!
First contact: Before your Erasmus student arrives, write to them. Find out how and when they arrive in Poznań.
A warm welcome: Plan your time to pick them up from the train station or airport and help them get to their new home.
Getting started: Be patient! Registering at the dorm, dealing with formalities, and settling in can be stressful, especially without speaking Polish. Your help at this stage is invaluable.
I picked up my Erasmus student, helped with accommodation… and what’s next?
This is just the beginning of the adventure!
Now you can show your student Poznań at its best. Where can I eat the best Polish pierogi? Where can I admire the most beautiful views of the city skyline? Which clubs host the best parties and concerts?
Day by day, step by step, something special is born – true FRIENDSHIP. You begin your relationship as Mentor and Erasmus student, and end up as lifelong friends. Even after returning to your respective countries and despite the miles separating you, this bond remains forever.
